The Under 6’s had a great team effort win over Ivanhoes, with all of the players outstanding - especially in defence and sharing the ball around. Flynn Mackay took out Man Of The Match with improved concentration and tacking. Special coachs mention to hard rocket Rhett Hawking-Elliott, who impressed with straight hard runs and also Chaelyn Bowen with skilful footwork. All of the players showed sportsman ship to other players and officials - well done junior Sharkies! It was an excellent all round performance in the Under 7s against Ivanhoes with two tries to Esmond Bowen and one try to Zavan Salam. The whole team worked well in defence. Tyiese Sullivan put his body on the line in defence, never took a backwards step from when he came on to the field and was awarded the Man of the Match for his efforts. Caleb Verata also had an outstanding match being up in the face of the defence all day and received the coaches award for his outstanding play. Under 8s had a very close, hard game against Ivanhoes, defeating them by one try. The whole team played extremely well and worked together to ensure that the game ran smoothly. Tries were scored by Matthius Jakonia (4), Fletcher Mac Donald (2), Haley Jenkins and Garence Hinton. The Man of the Match was awarded to Matthius for his great attacking and Coaches Award went to Bonita Adams her hard straight running. It was feasting time for the U9s Sharks with a strong win over Ivanhoes. A little shower had passed early in the game and put a dampener on players and the Sharkies kept dropping the ball and missing tackles. Ivanhoes were up in the first 10 mins but our successful conversions bought the score to 12 all in the first half. Sharkies played hard, strong, passed the ball around and tackled with pride. Thanks to the U8 (Fletcher, Kyah, Bonita, Azaya, Matthias) again for stepping up and supporting us, with all boys playing a magnificent game. Ryan Gwynne, a quiet but aggressive player, was all over the field, with support from his forwards Wyatt, Fletcher and Calm. Sam Marr, Saxon Ferris, Alakai Moore and Bonita Solomon always supported tackles with huge courage and sportsmanship. Wyatt & David stepped up to control the team in defence and attack with brilliant scores and chased home the Knights with a win to the Sharkies 36, Ivanhoes 12. Sam Marr earnt the Man of the Match for his efforts at training and Ryan Gwynne was awarded the Coaches Award for his aggressive play and for fulfilling a number of roles on the paddock. The Under 10s had a strong win over Ivanhoes, defeating them 20-10. Big man Kye Durie was outstanding in his attack and defence making Ivanhoes whimper at the sight of him. Ryan Hawking came out firing on all cylinders, defending like a champion and Elijah Zammataro found his footy legs and ran hard and straight this week. Brodie Francis worked hard in defence and scored for the Sharks. Kye had a hat trick, scoring 3 tries, with successful conversions from Tyson Osborne and Ryan Hawking. Man of the Match went to Ryan Hawking for his outstanding play and Coaches Award went to Elijah for a great improvement. Another fantastic game on Saturday with the U11 Sharkies having a win over Edmonton Lighting 28-24. Braxton Wienert, Harry O’Gorman and Heath Duncan displayed great team work with Jaxon Norman, Casper Wallace and Michael Tayley impressing with awesome defence. Try scorers were Braxton Wienert (1), Tyriece Sands (1), TJ Soloman(1), Casper Wallace(1) and Michael Tayley (1). Successful conversions were made by Casper,TJ and Harry. Man of the match went to Jaxon Norman and Coaches award went to Declan Williams. Under 12s had their first win for the year and it was great, beating Kangaroos 46-6. The team are starting to look like a team and enjoy playing football together. Bronson has been working on tackling at training and it is paying off. Their ball control was pretty good with a little room for improvement. The try scoring was started by Connor Berzinski getting 2 for the day. Next was Kanju Bamboo, then Norman Thompson, followed by Ki Pendlebury. Zac Jenkins got his hat trick and Bronson Ryan Jr finished off the day with 2 more. It was a awesome day well done team. The hardest thing is to pick player of the match because everybody played so well but Brayden Mynott got player of the match for his hard and straight running with one awesome bust up the middle which lead to a try being scored. The under 13s took to the field with only 9 of their regular players this week against Ivanhoes. With Ivanhoes big guns running the ball around the game wasnt an even match with some of our smaller players resulting in a big win to Ivanhoes. Billy, Keton, Laish, Brayden, Zack and Kyle put in some great defence with Kyle Solomon and Brayden Mynott getting over the line and a conversion by Lamar Enoch putting points on the board. Thanks to Brayden, Zack and Connor Berzinski for stepping up for us this week. The Under 14s earnt their first win of the season, defeating Ivanhoes 32-22. The Sharks started off patchy but soon found their form again and then ensued a great show for the home crowd. With amazing work putting the ball through the hands, the Sharks had wingers Xavian Pitt and Wade Duncan both scoring tries on the outside. Outstanding team work saw Cody Port score 4 times with his running as hard as ever, also converting 4 tries. Tom Mischke, JackJohnstone, Lawson Quinn and Josh Bellero were making Ivanhoes work for every gain and Marley Schacher put in a big effort and proved his commitment to the team. Coach Pitty was extremely proud to see his boys returning to their old form and focussing on playing as a team. Man of the Match went to Ryley Jenkins for a great effort in his first game as hooker and Coaches Award went to Kale Warden for strong attacking. The under 16s took on the Suburbs Cockatoos on Saturday and started out the game promising with some big runs from the forwards showing what the Sharks are capable of, but the class and speed of the Cockatoos shone through and they skipped out to a 22-12 lead at halftime. The defence that the Sharks had last week only came in patches this week and Suburbs superior strike power helped them finish the game off convincingly, winning 50-16. Man of the match and players player went to the hard working, lightweight, Glen McFarlane.
