The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25 as the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.” The observation of the day is to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence; furthermore, one of the aims of the day is to highlight that the scale and true nature of the issue is often hidden. Commencing from the 25th of November, 2014 to the 16th of December, 2014 (the latter marking the day of the gang rape of a student in a bus in Delhi) Men;s Action for Equity has organized a 22 days long programme observing the “International Fortnight for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.” A series of programmes has been planned throughout these days in Bhopal. The commemoration of the “Fortnight for the Elimination of Gender Based Violence in Bhopal” will be initiated by Men;s Action for Equity (a network of NGOs, individuals, academic lawyers and others) with a signature campaign and individual statement will be made at a public forum in New Market Bhopal from 2.00 p.m. – 6.00 p.m. on 25th November 2014. Kindly accept our invitation to this event. Your presence will make the event successful and provide support and encouragement to the issue.
