The Uplifting Word/Mark 16. Saturday morning, when the Sabbath ended, Mary Magdalene, Salome & Mary mother of James went out & bought spices to anoint Jesus’s body. Very early on Sunday morning, they came to the tomb & the stone was already rolled away. They saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting in the tomb. The angel said, “don’t be alarmed, you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Now go tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you before he died.” The first person to see Jesus after his resurrection was Mary Magdalene, afterwards he appeared in a different form to two of his disciples. Still later, he appeared to the 11 disciples as they were eating together. He rebuked them because they did not believe the reports of his resurrection. Jesus told them to go & preach the Good news to everyone. When he was finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven & sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. The disciples went everywhere & preached & the Lord worked through them confirming many miraculous signs. Insight: If the Lord does not go with us, we best not go or preach.
