The Vikings are back! As usually, clockwork synchronized, - TopicsExpress

The Vikings are back! As usually, clockwork synchronized, organically orchestrated they come back utterly funky, smoothly jazzy but none the less electronic. Thanks to the presence of the Britten Sinfonia, known as one of the world’s most celebrated and pioneering chamber ensembles, based in Cambridge, UK the sound shifts slightly towards classical music. Interestingly enough, the LP is not released by Ninja Tune, but by Smalltown Supersound, also known for releasing A Livingroom Hush. The Norwegian label recently released Neneh Cherry& The Things The Cherry Thing. Rumor has it that Thurston Moore is following Smalltown releases closely and is friends with the crew and most of the bands coming out of Smalltown. I had missed the presence of Line Horntveths trumpet, (sister of Lars and Martin Horntveth, the brains of Jagga) two years ago at Talimhane in the Istanbul gig, and am happy to see her back, powered by fellow trumpeters from the Britten Sinfonia.
