The West Virginia Courtesy Patrols longtime operator has been awarded a new one-year contract. Citizens Conservation Corps of West Virginia was one of two bidders for the contract. The other was IncidentClear, which operates service patrols in several other states. The Charleston Gazette reports that state officials approved Citizens Conservation Corps of West Virginias bid on May 28. The Beckley-based nonprofits bid was lower than the bid submitted by IncidentClear. The Courtesy Patrol provides roadside assistance to motorists. Several legislators voiced concerns about high salaries paid to executives of Citizens Conservation Corps of West Virginia during last weeks special session. The Tomblin administration determined that the state doesnt have the authority to set salaries for executives of nonprofits.
