The Wilderness Experience: (Part 20) It may surprise you to know that there was a time in your life, just like everyone of your siblings in the Lord, when the devil had no access. He didnt even have the nerve to knock on your fence, let alone your door; simply because the King of Kings and Lord of Lords is in the house. Hallelujah! However there comes a time when he is allowed access not because you are now vulnerable but because God your heavenly Father has a point to prove. If you notice the sequence in the Gospels you would see that God the Father came onto the airwaves boasting about Jesus, (Luke 3:21-22) then He was led by the Spirit into the wilderness where the devil tried to deceive Him. Luke 4:1-13. If you look at a very similar account in the book of Job you will notice the same pattern. Job 1:6-12. Every true believer comes to this point and this is where it all begins. I consider this a very critical point in the life of every believer. It is the make or break point; the point where the believer establishes his authority and sets the stage for a successful and victorious Christian life. If he fails at this point, then am afraid it would be an uphill struggle for him from that point onwards. Most if not all of the battles we are now facing; all the breakthroughs and deliverances we are praying and even fasting for now, should have been won way back then. Unfortunately, most of us are now struggling and wandering where is God, because like Esau we allowed the devil to steal our birth-rights from us. If only you knew that on that very first encounter, God allowed it because He had every confidence in you and He had just been boasting about you. If only you know that the devil needed permission to even come near you and the authority you had could have sent him packing just like that. If only you knew that it was that very authority that the devil was after, yet he didnt have a clue what to do or how to go about breaking down your defences to get it. He had no evidence against you and even though he’s call the ‘accuser of the brethren’ (Rev. 12:10), there was nothing he could accuse you of. IF ONLY YOU KNEW! I pray that this week God will open your eyes to the wiles of the devil so that you can send him packing in Jesus Name. Amen! Stay tuned.
