The Word For The Day Do you ever feel like you have been slapped - TopicsExpress

The Word For The Day Do you ever feel like you have been slapped in the face when you bring attention to a brother or sister who is in sin and their response is not one of gratitude or appreciation? In doing so our own faith will be tested when we share the truth with others. Our intentions are honorable and our motivation is to not see someone mislead but, it does happen nevertheless. People, whether they walk with the Lord or not have wants, needs and desires and will act on them. The bible says, “Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Gal. 6:1. It is our duty to help each other see the truth and not be blinded by our desires that will lead us to sin. I would hope that someone do the same for me whether they know me or not. Our common thread is Jesus and the tool utilized to correct is The Word. Three things were brought to mind while contemplating these thoughts. 1) I am to share my faith in love and not assume the outcome. It does not matter whether I am shown gratitude or not, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,” Col. 3:23. 2) Be careful in your desire to help someone see their sin that you are not tempted. If we take someone’s negative response of us showing tough love personally we can easily fall into our own sin. Gal. 6:1. 3) Everyone who says “Lord Lord” is not ready for the tough road of discipleship. A committed life in Christ is one of discipline, accountability, great sacrifice and self-denial. Mt. 7:21; Lk. 14:25-27. I shared my thoughts with someone who claims they walk with the Lord. According to The Word what they were doing is a sinful act. What I said was not well received. I got angry because my words only confirmed what was already told to him. I was about to respond in angry but, thank God I was able to catch myself. I was reminded that my role in the salvation of others is to plant the seed, he will do the rest. A battle weary soldier of Christ must be prepared for the responses will not always be one of gratitude. To God Be the Glory! “Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.” 2Tim. 2:7
