The Zimbabwean Government has confirmed that the impending introduction of a 15% Value Added Tax on accommodation and tourism services payments by foreign visitors to Zimbabwe will take effect in January 2015. These services were previously exempt from VAT. At this time it is not yet clear on what component of the services the VAT will be applied, and our trade partners in Zimbabwe are awaiting the Government Statutory Instrument which will clarify exactly what has been legislated by the Government and the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority. We will keep you informed.
