The ancient cobbled causeway of St Michaels Mount was badly - TopicsExpress

The ancient cobbled causeway of St Michaels Mount was badly damaged during the winter storms of early 2014, with many of the original cobbles washed away by the powerful waves. Fortunately, we were able to recover many of the stones from the surrounding seabed and keep them safe on the mainland, as we surveyed the damage and put an action plan in place. During Spring and Summer, interim measures were put in place to maintain a safe route for both our visitors and island residents. In recent weeks, we have started on a phased programme of works that will continue to strengthen the causeway and surrounding structures. Weve had the diggers in this week, laying a solid concrete base so that all of the original stones can be put back and restored permanently. Do come and take a look at the important work that they are undertaking to restore this vital island lifeline.
