The annoying thing about be proven right about something is when - TopicsExpress

The annoying thing about be proven right about something is when that turns out to inconvenience you... when I purchased my 2014 VFR800F I also ordered a top box and all the required mounting hardware. Well, the top box arrived a few weeks ago, and as it turn out I had to wait longer for the mounting plate and bracket etc. For some reason I had concerns that the dealer may not have included all the hardware needed to fit the top box, I thought this because of the price quoted and my research had suggested there were 3 things needed. 1. The top box, 2. The mounting plate and 3. The carrier bracket. I quizzed the dealer on a few occasions making sure everything needed was ordered. I was assured that it was and a few days ago I got a call that the remaining parts had arrived. I was working so could not make it to the dealer (about 80 km away), so my wife took the drive to pick it up for me. I got home last night, eagerly opened my delivery so I can fit it to my bike only to realize my fear had come true... I was missing something. I had thought they were going to forgot the mounting plate and supply the carrier bracket only. Well, just to mix it up a bit, they ordered the mounting plate and not the carrier bracket. Needless to say I was just a little pissed. I rang the dealer today and spoke to the dealer owner (who also sold me my bike) and informed them I was missing the carrier bracket. I was advised the would investigate and get back to me.... I was starting to be concerned as I knew that my sale invoice did not include the carrier bracket and as based on my research the carrier bracket is around AU$400. The dealer called back soon after and said there was good news and bad news.... good news is that they have actually worked out what I need (in their defence Honda have not provided them a parts order list as yet) and that it is indeed the carrier bracket.... bad news is that its expensive (I was not given a $$ value) and that it would take 10 days to arrive. I accepted the 10 days wait time without fuss (not that I really had much choice)... the dealer then went onto surprise the hell out of me. Because I was stuffed around and have waited so long they were going to supply the carrier bracket at no cost to me because they want to retain me as a customer. To say the least I was astonished and grateful that I didnt have to find bout $400 to finally fit the top box to my bike. I was ready to go thermo nuclear when I rang but decided against it... pretty sure the outcome would not have been this good (despite the wait) had I lost it at them. Not happy with their initial stuff up, but very impressed by their actions to make it up to me.
