The article below is from the right wing Miami Newspaper Diario las Americas. As you can see from the picture on Wednesday I participated in a press conference that was widely covered in the Spanish speaking media here. The following is a copy our statement in English about the event. If you live in South Florida please plan on attending Saturday night. Exhibition of Watercolors by Political Prisoner Antonio Guerrero On Saturday August 9 in Little Haiti, the first Miami exhibition of watercolors by political prisoner Antonio Guerrero, entitled “I Will Die the Way I Lived,” will be on display at the hall of Veye Yo, a Miami-based Haitian community group. More than just an exhibition, this showing has turned into a question of freedom of speech. Miami-based opponents of the Cuban government have organized a harassment campaign, getting the show canceled at its original venue, Sweat Records. The people of Miami have the right to learn about the case of the Cuban Five and make their own decision. Prisoners also have the right to display their artwork outside prison walls. Voices of support for the Five today includes the National Lawyers Guild; the National Council of Churches; the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists; historian Howard Zinn; actors Danny Glover, Susan Sarandon, and Martin Sheen; poet Alice Walker; parliaments from 17 countries; and 12 Nobel Prize Laureates, among others. Defend freedom of speech and freedom of expression! Allow a political prisoner’s voice to be heard outside prison walls! Show your support by coming to Veye Yo on Saturday, August 9, 6:30-9pm, 39 NW 54th St., Miami, Fl, 33127. Reception begins at 6:30. Program at 7:30. Let’s pack the house!
