The attention of the State Government has been drawn to news reports coupled with information from its source that Al Queda chief, Ayman al-Zawahiri’s, announcement of the formation of ‘Jamiat Quedatel Jihad Fee Shibh-el-Quarratel Hindiya’ (Al Queda in the Indian Sub-Continent,) the Chief Secretary had convened an urgent meeting with the senior government and police officials on 08.09.2014 in his office chamber to review the situation. The Director General of Police, Meghalaya was asked to make plans to tackle the threat which may arise from this organisation being active in the State. The State Government is taking steps to deal with this threat and will adopt all measures to ensure that there is no danger to the citizens of the State and that all tribes and communities live in peace and security.
