The best experience in Thailand, a trip to the river Kwai March 20 2014 We were 6 people who where tired of resting on the beach. 06.30 Som taxi service picked us up with a big and comfortable van at our gate. The trip started towards Kanchanburi. 08.00 Prebooked american breakfest with orange juice, coffee or tea, in Hua Hin. Before starting again Som serviced us with water, coke, potatoe chips and candy. 12.00 Arrived in Kanchanburi - Check in at River Kwai Resort - situated by the river. Nice rooms, good service. Our guide Patty met us, informed about our programme for the next 2 days. 12.30 Lunch at nice restaurant on the river by the bridge. Large buffet with beer, water. - Prebooked 13.30 Picked up by van. Water etc on trip. 40 minutes trip to Tiger temple. Guideing by Patty through the area to the temple - pat the tigers, take photos. To waterfall where people had a chance to play with the tigers - make them jump for plastic bags filled with air. All this with help from personel specially trained to take care of tigers. During the walk we saw water buffalos, antilopes, boars who were walking around the area. We also watched some black bears. The only bad thing was the heat. (You were not allowed to wear, red, pink, short shorts, top without sleeves). 16.00 Back to hotel - relax, swimming in pool. 18.30 Picked up for dinner at the beautiful restaurant Keeree Tara, by/on the river. We were seated on a large veranda on the river. We were served about 6 different thai dishes, wine, beer etc. We stayed here for a few hours, enjoyed food, drinks while large disco-/restaurant riverboats passed us. Som participated and served us throughout dinner. Back to hotel. Friday March 21 7.30-8.45 Breakfest, big, varied buffet on the hotels veranda on the river. Fabulous soft awakening. 9.00 Long tail boat excursion on the river, visiting - Old war museum - The small grave yard, where about 1.700 war prisoners rest. They died during building the Death railway. These young men came mostly from the Netherlands and Great Brittain. - Khao poon cave where a large Buddah sits high up on the mountain top. 11.00 Finished the boat trip with walking over the river Kwai bridge. After that we shopped at a nearby large marketplace. Here you could find a lot of clothes, other stuff, false-/not false jewellery 12.00 Check out from hotel 12.30 Lunch at the same lunch restaurant as yesterday - buffet, beer, water 13.30 Van picked us up to take us back to Huay Yang.
