The bicycle was invented as a means of transportation in the early 19th century. Now, almost two hundred years later, modern bikes are not only used to get places, but also for recreation and sport. At TORONTO 2015, there are several adrenaline-filled events in the road and track cycling disciplines at both the Pan Am and Parapan American Games. The key differences between road and track cycling are the fact that track cycling takes place in a velodrome, and its athletes are generally with far more bulk than road racers who must cover long distances. Para-cycling is equally as fast and exciting as its Pan Am counterparts. The Pan Am Games also feature mountain biking and BMX racing which take athletes across rough terrain or through obstacle courses.
