The boys have just wrapped up the final stage of our first Tour of Tasmania and I thought Id just write down a few thoughts from whats been a hugely successful learning experience for us all. First of all, coming into the pinnacle event of the year and the one thats considered the toughest race on the NRS calendar we were both nervous, yet keen to leave our mark on the race. This was definitely achieved with two top 10 results in Tam Allenby on stages 2 and 6 (8th and 10th respectively - his best results to date), and one top 20 in Tristan Cardew with 16th on stage 5 (his first top 20 in the NRS). Each day the boys faced 1800+ meters of climbing at race pace and the levels of fatigue were definitely felt throughout the 6 days of racing - this was apparent with over 35 riders DNFing the tour by weeks end. Racing against Australias best the guys definitely showed they had what it takes to mix it with most talented riders in the country.. Tam and Tristan filled out the top 50 on overall GC with Alex Nazarewicz not far behind. As always we want to say a huge thank you to all the support weve had from the club, as well as our sponsors SportsFocus, The Malaya, Champsys Australia, Avanti Bicycles, Pave The Way Bike Fitters, Giro, and Attaquer. Were all looking forward to a couple of weeks off before starting training for what should be a very exciting 2015. Yew! - Assistant Directeur Sportif, Patrick Sharpe.
