*The cardinal vision of the PDP founding fathers was to form a large, all encompassing political party, broad based and strong enough to nurture and bequeath democracy to posterity. They intended that this political party apart from serving as a bulwark against military adventurism, should rebuild the fabrics of the civil society and lay a new foundation for socio-economic prosperity. Even though there is still room for improvement, there is no doubt that the PDP has largely fulfilled much of this vision in 15 years of democratic rule. * Today, the military squarely faces its constitutional responsibility and democracy sustained for an unbroken 15 years. * Fundamental freedom, political and electoral reforms, civil and public service reforms as well as the reforms in the economy have not only re-built the fabrics of the civil society but restored dignity and eminence to Nigeria in the global community. *Despite global economic challenges , the living standard of Nigerians has drastically changed from what it was over a decade ago. * The restoration of the middle class almost whipped out under decades of military rule is one of the greatest tribute to the PDP in this respect. * Things can only get BETTER !
