The committee of Middle East for submitting a written report to the governing council where it may express a political position on the situation for the endorsement of the governing council, invited different stakeholders to express their views on the issue. The IPU president, the IPU Secretary General along with the presidents of the geopolitical groups and the presidents of the standing committees expressed their views on the topic to the president and members of the Committee on Middle East Question. Farkhunda Zahra Naderi, Afghan MP and the president of the Third Standing Committee calls on members to encourage parliaments to take action on the basis of the IPU resolutions especially the resolutions passed by the Third standing committee mainly the children and media resolutions. She highlighted the use of these existing resources as part of the search for peace in the Middle East. If we consider these issues of democracy and human rights in the context of the Middle East, I think that you would agree that if the parliaments of the region, and indeed all parliaments, made a more vigorous efforts to implement IPU resolutions, then we would already have gone a long way towards achieving peace and laying the foundations for long-term stability and prosperity in the region. Farkhunda Zahra Naderi I believe that we should make a more determined effort to encourage parliaments to take action on the basis of IPU resolutions. We should held delegations accountable for the actions that they gave taken to inform their parliament of IPU decisions and to push for Parliament to place these issues on the legislative agenda Farkhunda Zahra Naderi.
