The country is in crisis and we cannot blame the government alone. - TopicsExpress

The country is in crisis and we cannot blame the government alone. My thesis is that the period preceding any take off in economic growth is rife with often careless decisions such as carrying dollars, not cedis, to Brazil on a presidential jet to pay Ghanaian players who should be proud of wearing their countrys colours. What the government is trying to do to manage the economy and the falling cedi may also not work because this is the right and only time to implement an industrial policy. the period before take off is always rough. So what is happening to the party in the other place is just a sympton of the the shaky crisis we all find ourselves in. There was a time when power was important, it no longer is in a knolwedge economy. What is important is influence and the NPP is showing signs that despite all Nkrumah did to take us our of underdevelopment, we are still suffering from the crass approach to seeking power when what we should be doing it charting a course for the development of our dear country. Most Ghanaians do not really care who is in control in the party or the nation - they care more about how the country will be rid of poverty and not by force of fist but by well articulated ideas of using these uncertain or turbulent period to move our country forward. Can we trust the violence of the NPP? even before they campaign for power? where are the cool cerebral heads that must take us out of this morass? The NPP must certainly continue challenging the Government because that is its duty in opposition but what i saw on video today at the NPP national headquarters shows that they are clueless about what the country needs: Cool heads that would inspire the country to come together under a new vision for development. The issue is not about who can manage the economy better it is about the vision. So if Ghana showed to the whole world that it cannot manage 23 football players, it is disappointing that the NPP is telling Ghanaians that it cannot manage a few footsoldiers.
