The crossing guard illustration seems to work but something is - TopicsExpress

The crossing guard illustration seems to work but something is missing. Wouldnt the mom after she walks the kids across the street feel compelled, especially if this happens regularly, to seek out the authority of the crossing guard? Would she really allow the guard to sit on her lawn chair and play on her phone and not do the job she was hired to do? So.... 1. Has the guard been trained to do her job? Does she know how to use the sign and the whistle? Did anyone ever give her instructions or just assumed that crossing guards all know how to act? 2. Does the guard have a problem? Is she stuck in the chair? Does she actually want to help the kids cross the street but cant seem to get up - she is stuck in the chair. 3. Are there other crossing guards in the neighborhood or is the guard alone and isolated in her neighborhood? Has she actually ever really seen guards do their job in a way that she could follow example? 4. Is it a combination of inadequacy, lack of training, no clear models and being stuck that together contribute to her not doing his job? 5. The crossing guard has a clear responsibility. The crossing guard has a clear authority. The authority is accountable for training and equipping the crossing guard and knowing if the crossing guard needs help and encouragement in executing her job. *Seems like moms like this who are from a more conservative environment that emphasizes fathers leading spiritually in the home needs to become the absolute strongest advocate for ministry to men in her own local church and encourage the church elder board to offer training and counsel to the dads attending that local church. Women have a voice in the local church and it should be to recreate within it a true culture that values men and that builds men with others in mind. The men of the church can get training like this at an Iron Sharpens Iron Mens Conferences - held across the nation
