“The day before, we had been in the same area [Shejiah]…While we were there, a young man who was trying to reach his family’s home to see if there were any survivors asked us to accompany him. A number of us went, and along the way he was shot by an Israeli sniper from the separation barrier, where the troops are masked. While he was lying on the ground, he was shot an additional two times. And his parents—and this is very unfortunate— his parents learned about this by watching a video of it which had been posted on the internet, a video of their son being shot and presumably killed.” …To be perfectly honest, I’m still processing it. I think, on a certain level, I think all of us who were there and… experienced it are worried that it hasn’t really hit us yet. It’s, Perhaps it’s something our minds are delaying til the end of the offensive for good reason. It’s certainly something that I have not experienced before. I’ve been around people here who died as a result of injuries elsewhere, and I’ve also seen people injured. I’ve been near people who have been killed instantaneously by airstrikes, but I’ve never seen anyone murdered in front of me in slow motion like that.” -Joe Catron, English teacher / activist / writer in Gaza Radio Islam has started a series called, Painting A Picture of Palestine.
