The death occurred at his home, 48 Dryburgh Avenue, Denny, on Monday, of Mr James Lynn, aged 71 years. A native of Denny, he was employed early in his life in Stripside and Woodyett Pits, but subsequently joined the Baden Powell Police and served in theBoer War. Then when the call to arms came again, he served during the 1914 - 1918 World War in the Scots Greys and was later transferred to the Black Watch, with which regiment he was severely wounded in France - a wound which crippled him severely for the remainder of his life. He was a man of very independant outlook and took a lighter job at a lesser pay rather than accept the dole. He is survived by his wife and a family of four sons and a daughter. One of his sons, John, was fatally gassed in his home on 10 December, 1952. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, from St Alexanders Church, Denny, to the local cemetery. Only Child in Household of John Linn (Lynn) in 1881 who was a Ironstone Miner born in Denny.In 1901 James Linn is shown as Occupation Miner but Residing at Jocks Lodge Edinburgh,a Cavalry Barracks where he is shown as a Candidate for the South African Constabulary.Funeral 07/01/1953
