The deeper truth in A Course in Miracles has nothing to do with the words it uses, the subjects it speaks about, or how it is presented. The deeper truth is the light of God, as Love, shining in our minds, providing us with a guiding `tone` to which we can attune. It is a beacon shining in the darkness. At first, it seems that in order to awaken from our nightmare, we need help, and at a certain point of readiness, along comes the Course. But at this point, we are still so filled with distorted thinking and mis-perception, that we really do not `get it`. We bring our ego with us, and interpret the Course through it, and project onto it. We dont even see or hear it clearly to begin with. It can seem so confusing, because we are so confused. We might even understand it intellectually, but this is just the beginning. It isnt really about the words it says or the topics it discusses, and we can get lost in trying to decipher those or get a grasp of them. The important thing is that Love is calling us to Awaken from our sleep. This call isnt just a remote signal, but is a healing presence entering our awareness. This may have taken perhaps the `form` of the ACIM book, or the lessons, or whatever part of the metaphysics seems important, but these forms are just there to serve one purpose - to help attune you to the truth. While it would seem that ACIM is a text, with a workbook, and things you have to practice, really it is absolutely nothing. It acts as an empty mirror onto which you will project all of your ego issues. The truth is not words in a book, or thoughts in your mind. Your ego will stand in the way of the truth and declare itself to have meaning, and to give meaning to the course, and to use the course for its purpose of attack. And this it does extensively. The truth behind the course is what is important, and not the form it has taken. Over time, this `high vibrational tuning fork` coming into your awareness (Holy Spirit) is gradually removing aspects of the ego which prevent the truth from being recognized and experienced. As a result, everyone who `does the course` effectively fails at the course, all of the time. We all fail because we have egos. We cannot grasp the truth while we have egos. The course, as a representation or symbol of truth, is just a mirror through which healing forces apply to our mind. Gradually we are lifted out of sleep and into the light, in spite of our egos, and in spite of how mistaken we are about what the course is or how to use it. Doing the course correctly has nothing to do with whether you read the right text or did the workbook lesson properly. You do not need to con-form to its form. You make progress through your surrender of the ways in which you `do the course with the ego`, because the only purpose is to undo the ego interpretation. Until the ego is completely removed, you will not be able to experience the truth in its purest, most accurate manner. So either youre are a student who is failing, or you have graduated and finally are experiencing the truth. Never in-between are you a student who is succeeding, because until you have no more use for the Course you must be `doing it wrong`. It is this `doing it wrong` that is being corrected by Holy Spirit, because it is the ego....and this IS what it means to `do the course right`. The ego seen in the reflection of the mirror of truth and gradually eradicated from the mind. So dont worry so much about whether you are getting it right or are understanding it or are applying it properly or whatever. You cant do it right. The course is a trick question. If you could do it right, really, just once, you would not need to do it at all. So keep failing at it, and allow Holy Spirit to help you fail at it less, until you stop failing (as ego) and experience the joy of freedom. Then you will know what the course is about because you will be experiencing truth. The whole purpose of the course is simply to act as a framework or medium through which Holy Spirit can trick you into applying a healing balm to your mind. Youre not meant to get hung up on it or obsess over the medium. The medium, as a signpost, points beyond the course itself, to the truth, which is where it wants you to go. Join with God in peace.
