The definition of Paranormal: of or pertaining to the claimed - TopicsExpress

The definition of Paranormal: of or pertaining to the claimed occurrence of an event or perception without scientific explanation, as psychokinesis, extrasensory perception, or other purportedly supernatural phenomena. A lot of paranormal occurrences can be explained using scientific THEORY. Is that not considered a scientific explanation? The lights turn off in the house or electronics malfuncion.... is it truly Paranormal? Or is the theory where "matter cannot be created or destroyed... simply altered" being exercised.... i.e. spirits cannot create their own energy so they manipulate or borrow other sources of energy (as we do as well, by eating... no food = no life) to bang something or to move an object. The scientific method is based around the ability to replicate the same outcome time after time... however when you add freedom of choice and consider that we are humans, there is never a time when something will be the same 100% of the time. So ultimately... should we be using the term "Paranormal" to explain occurrences of the spiritual and ghostly? When most of the time it can be explained by a theory? Or should we refer to them as Supernatural? 1. of, pertaining to, or being above or beyond what is natural; unexplainable by natural law or phenomena; abnormal. 2. of, pertaining to, characteristic of, or attributed to God or a deity. 3. of a superlative degree; preternatural: a missile of supernatural speed. 4. of, pertaining to, or attributed to ghosts, goblins, or other unearthly beings; eerie; occult.
