The destiny of the planet, and of the whole of humankind, is out of our hands, in in the hands of a much larger self....the Planetary Mind. Lets call her Gaia, since someone already did. I believe that individuals can affect their own destiny to some extent, but mostly by what they let go of, and not by what they acquire. Some are meant to cave to desire, and in so doing, give themselves over to the service of Gaias ends. Greed is the hunger, Power is the bait. Their rewards are material, but the price they pay is spiritual. They are the marionettes of Gaia, dumping gasoline on the fire, making it burn so hot so as its unable to be mitigated by the rest of us. They concentrate the wealth and control into ever fewer hands, which is exactly what Gaia needs to close out this cycle, cleanse, and start the next. Hard for one who identifies as a Steward of the Earth to trust the process, as you watch the Selfish act irrationally to torch all you would save. Keep the faith my brothers and sisters.
