The disease of a consumer nation is the consumer mentality. The consumer mentality neither promote independence nor supports constructive progress. The syndrome of consumerism has become so entrenched in our lives that the most expensive consumers are named Celebrities and thats what the youths emulates. There is no sense of independence due to consumer mentality which plunged people to become prey to the world of production. Nigeria is a consumer nation and so our collective behavior is determine by the imported goods we import and use, which in turn is decided by the actual producers. He who decides what you eat, actually decides how you behave. In Nigeria, our consumer mentality compel people to use government, religion, tribe, race and region as a source of consumption and not source of production. Consumer mentality makes you subservient to any source of production and thats why Nigeria and at large Africa become subservient to western countries. People are blindfolded in mental obesity because of consumer mentality.
