The driving force behind the conflict in the Middle East is the divide between Sunni and Shia denominations of Islam. Muslim nations will act depending on their Sunni or Shia population. That is a complex situation that the Christian world do not seem to understand. One solution is consociationalism power sharing when forming governments, as they do in Lebanon, for these extremely divided and conflicted societies. America also needs to understand their role in destabilizing these nations, and need to stop trying to spread their version of democracy as it apparently does not work.
