The end of September marks my second year in the Bay Area and, until today, I had yet to experience an earthquake. It woke me up around 3:30am when I heard loud popping (my high rise hasnt had a good stretch lately) and the chain that controls my blinds was beating against the wall. I got up to get some more appropriate clothes on and couldnt decide if the sway of the floor was in my head (from a fast 3:30 wake-up call) or truly under my feet... still not sure. Like a goofball, I stood under the doorway... and... nothing. The whole thing must have lasted 5 seconds, lucky me. I know there is significant history here but, all things considered, this was far less scary than the storms that plague Tennessee and scatter twisters at random. (Yes, Wanda Long, Im absolutely fine.)
