The fact that President Goodluck Jonathan and his cohorts raised 21 billion Naira for the presidential elections in 2015 is agonizingly painful. In a country where over 60% of the population lives in poverty and most civil servants including teachers in many states have not been paid salaries for several months. A country where many children do not even know what the joy of Christmas means because their parents cannot afford a decent meal or reasonable clothing. The President gathers his cronies in utter disregard for the sensitivities, feelings and sufferings of the people of Nigeria and he raises this obscene amount of money. We can only PRAY, HOPE and VOTE to ensure that decency, honesty and integrity triumphs over the buying of votes and money politics. We saw this trend at the recent APC presidential primaries. Once again, may we see this trend continue in 2015 and beyond!
