The fact that the Blue House’s proposal was so lacking does not mean we can just brush off the opportunity for dialogue. The DP needs to make a real decision about whether to let it happen, and do its best to make sure it‘s the kind of dialogue that produces real results. Right now, the two sides need to be doing whatever they can to make this meeting into a forum for real discussion. That means that Park needs to recognize the opposition as a real partner in dialogue. The ruling party and the opposition have to put their heads together and negotiate a meeting that can offer the public some kind of hope.
