The fifth characteristic for a form of worship to be accepted is that it must be performed on its designated time. If someone goes for Hajj to mount Arafah on the 12th of the month instead of the 9th which is the Day of Arafah, his Hajj is void. If someone prays Maghrib a minute before sunset, knowingly or unknowingly, his prayer is not accepted. Likewise, those who sacrifice on Eid Aladha before the prayer of Eid, their sacrifice is not accepted and should slaughter another one. There are exceptions which are only known through the Quran and Sunnah. It is permissible for example to give the zakat of two years or so in advance as permitted to Al Abbas, the uncle of the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam. One can combine Thuhr to Asr or Maghrib to Isha when travelling or whenever there is a real need for that.
