The final note or pitch of most songs is called the “resting tone.” Children pick up on these tones easily, and often they are the first notes you may hear your child sing. That’s why in class we’ll often repeat the last note of the song. Listen for it in class and at home. If you hear your child sing it, sing it back! This will reinforce tonal behavior in the same way you reinforce language by echoing back your child’s attempts at words.
