The fire service is filled with gruff men and women who will do whatever it takes to get the job done. This is good when you’re responding to an emergency. You want somebody sitting next to you that knows their responsibility on emergencies and is capable of completing a task when they are given one. Unfortunately, this sometimes leads to a lot of first responders who talk bad of other first responders who don’t quite measure up to their standards. Rather than helping others to become better, some first responders choose to use harsh words. This should not be the standard for firefighters. Not only should we regularly thank God for other first responders, I believe it also important for us to thank those whom we serve with. This doesn’t always come easy, but it is the right thing to do. When we have thankful attitudes it is easier for other first responders to come to faith. Thankfulness can be contagious when used often. How about you, are you a complainer? Or do you have a spirit of thankfulness?
