The first night of my hospital stay, after being poked, on IV meds and oxygen I fell asleep. I awoke in a fog, with the word and the image ouroboros running through my head. I was awoken by the med team working on me because my heart had stopped due to electrolyte imbalances (from 13 days of fever & vomiting). Strangely, in the moment that I awoke I was calm (the fear came later when I realized what had happened). The symbol of a snake eating its own tail has stuck with me since that night, and I think its interesting that it symbolizes rebirth, and the eternal cyclical nature of the universe. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouroboros
