The following is a letter sent to my mother from a Ukruanian - TopicsExpress

The following is a letter sent to my mother from a Ukruanian Exchange student who lived with her some years ago. It is tough to find trustworthy facts given how much most of us distrust the media. This gives a view from the ground from a trusted source. Dear Susan, good day, Thank You for below letter, your worrying & kind words, Im really glad to hear from You. Sorry for not writting to You often, but believe me Im often thinking about my American familly and remember that good time being at Your house. Good to hear that You all doing fine, I hope to receive other news from You later. I do not use facebook, twitter, etc., in order to save my private time (may be it sounds strange, but people spend too much time in internet now) so I decide not to register in it and spend my free time with familly & friends )) How was Your surprise-retirement party? Sorry I could not come, but I think many students came to make a surprise to You, Lisa did a job preparing this party! As for me everything is Ok, Im 33 years old now, working in shipping business, in 2011 i got married & in 2013 i became a father (i have a son) ;)) later will send You some photos. Mom & Dad is Ok, unfortunately, from grandparents only one Grandmom is alive now (mothers mom), she is 90 year old now, my younger sister is married & planning to have a baby now (but not pregnant yet ))) And the last but not the least few words about the real situation in our country: during last 5 years our country was ruled by a powerfull, rich, cruel & stupid group of criminals who robed the country, destroyed the army, seized many of plants, factories, ports, big, middle and even small companies, etc. Police, attorneys, judges were working on them. Living in Ukraine became harder & harder, lots of citizens became poor, business was running from country. Finaly when President refused in the very last minute to sign an assosiation with European Union people start their final battle against the regime, and after three months of revolution or civil war (i would say so beacuse more than hundred people were killed from both sides: citizens & police) the regime has collapsed and president ran to Russia. We all thought that finally it is the end, but as a fact it was only the beginning. Russia and their crazy tsar Putin decided to occupied part of Ukranian territory when our coutry is weak, poor and tired, saying that they want to protect russians who lives at Ukraine. But nobody asked them to do so !!!!!! Honestly, Im russian, all my familly and my friends are russians by nationality, but we all are Ukrainian citizens and we want to live in Ukraine not in Russia and no need to protect me in my country, from whom???!!! We live on the South of Ukraine in Odessa city (population 1,5 million people) and in our city all the people speaks russian language, nobody never forced us speak ukranian if we dont want to or threaten us. All the South and East of Ukraine speaks mostly russian language (it is more than 25 millions people) and nobody ever faced any problems. But Russia is strong now and does not hear anybody, so they need to find any reason for occupation and they are trying to ensure the world that they came protect russian speaking people, which is absolutely not true, they simply occupied and seized our territory. Of course, there are some group of people in Ukraine who wants to join Russia, but only small amount, 80-90% of Ukranians want to live in their own independent county. Now the situation is very very dangerous, all the army is ready for war, many russian troops at Crimea (also South of Ukrane on Black Sea, very close to Odessa). Many reservists & volunteers joined Ukrainian army and ready for war. European countries does not want to quarell with Russia, cause they buy Gas in Russia, so the only our partner who put pressure on Russia are the USA, but I think Putin will not listen even them. Very sad situation, I would never think that it could happen... In the end I want to say thank You and all Americans who supports Ukrainians in this difficult for us time, thank You.. please say Hi to everyone ))
