The following is a success story that was just posted by one of our therapists in our Huntsville, AL office regarding the Sensory Learning Program. We offer many sensory therapies, including the iLs, the Sensory Learning Program and vision therapy. I thought this was so powerful I wanted to share!!! #snidertherapycenters This is Day 12 of the 12 day Sensory Program with one of my sweet 7 year old patients, and these observations were shared with me, and with the parents permission I am allowed to share with you the amazing things that have happened in the last 12 days here at Snider Therapy! Day 1: we went to the Shogun restaurant. On previous visits, we could not get her to watch longer than a second. This visit she watched for at least ten minutes and was smiling and laughing and asking the chef to do things again! Day 3: she watched squirrels running and climbing trees at the botanical gardens. She has never watched any animal activity before. Also she watched the toy train for the first time ever (weve visited there approximately 20 times)! Day 6: she looked at the toilet paper and paper towel perforations each time she used the restroom and dried her hands. She always just ripped the paper however it came off until today. Today she is watching as she slowly tears each section. On the way home , she looked out the window the whole way as if seeing things for the first time. Her spontaneous speech has increased. She is answering more often when asked a question, without repeating the question again and again. She is following instructions better, every single day since the beginning, her behavior has been good. She has been very happy every day. This week, the very good has lasted for the whole week now, very alert and responsive. Day 7: she is not running into the paths of others! Today she walked on her own without running into anyone and stayed with us without running off too far ahead! Day 8: she loved reading one of her books again and again out loud today. She read the digital clock correctly for the first time today. She was able to use more and more descriptive words, and she was able to recall four items from memory-- which is a first for us! TODAY IS THE MOST SHE HAS EVER TALKED. Its as if she can now hear us! And on top of that, she can see us too! It has been the BEST DAY EVER! Day 9: she answered personal questions better than ever! She has never gotten her age right--until today! She got the greater than concept in math for the first time today! She was happy doing her work and needed no reinforcement. Another first, she recalled comprehension questions about a favorite movie before we watched its! Her mean length of utterance has significantly increased! Day 9: she continues to have significantly improved eye contact, truly amazing! And she uses one foot per step to climb stairs now instead of both feet per step! The volume and clarity of her speech has improved. Day 10: We threw a ball and she caught it for the first time ever! Day 11: we are so overwhelmingly grateful for the miracle we are seeing continue each day! Snider Therapy Centers, Inc.
