The following letter will be sent tomorrow morning. It falls on - TopicsExpress

The following letter will be sent tomorrow morning. It falls on the heels of my April 16/14 letter to the same audience. Im literally horrified by our current BC government. For my friends and family who usually dont get too involved in political debate I encourage you to please do so now. I have never put my politics on Facebook before but I am begging you to speak up now. Phone your MLAs office. Write a letter. Go see your MLA in person. This bloody minded government is literally killing off education and health care. One bad move at a time. To the Minister of Education and my MLA Mr. Douglas Horne, Just 6 weeks ago I wrote to you to express my disappointment with all of you in the Legislature over in Victoria. It was a letter penned with frustration over the recent cuts you announced in education. Ill repeat my key message again here that nothing is more important than giving our British Columbian kids a quality education. And I do mean quite literally nothing. If Christie Clark says families first then I say explain to me, please, as a constituent in your Coquitlam riding, how your government, on behalf of all British Columbians is putting the needs of my family first? How can your party be so incredibly out of touch with the average family? And so fundamentally disrespectful to the majority of the population who voted you in as our representatives in the first place. Shame on you. I do not accept that this is your best. Because if it is, God help this province. Mr Horne you may be a Liberal just towing the party line but you are our representative in this riding. How have you taken responsibility and moved my message along to the decision makers in Victoria that the cuts to education and health have got to stop? Where is your accountability? What have you done to stop the bleed on the public services available to my family? Mr. Fassbender I believe you owe a serious apology to my children. These recent Education teacher lock out announcements can only be described as an embarrassment, short sighted, and terribly unaware. You clearly have no idea what happens in todays BC public schools. How much time have you spent in a grade 2 classroom lately? Or a highschool hallway at lunchtime?Shame on your apathy, your lack of vision and ultimately your cowardice. Are you in the premiers pocket so much your decision making in your portfolio revolved around where her child attends (private) school? Shame on you. In case its been lost on any of you in Victoria, the kind of behaviour you are displaying of favouring the elite particularly galls people when its paired with budget cuts and threats of legislated bargaining processes that ultimately affect not only the context you are negotiating but greatly affect and impact us lowly general public folks. I will remind you now that my vote is entirely out of your partys reach in the next election and I can assure you I will work hard to ensure others follow suit and really think carefully about seeking changes in BC government leadership. I promise you that come next election these Education cuts will not be a distant memory for many many British Columbians like me. Think about that for a moment. Because, you see, your choices today will directly affect my children every day between now and then which by default is for me, a daily in-my-face reminder of the lack of representation your government offers regular people like me and children. Need I remind you that when youre seniors in this province that it is todays youth that will be over in Victoria as our elected officials? Do you not see the correlation there? For the love of god please stop your flawed approach to public education funding. And if not for the love of god, how about, once again for the love of our children and our future here in BC? Sincerely, Norah Miner (mother of 2 school aged kids ages 7&10) [email protected]
