The fourth installment of Seven Things You didnt Know About Me (the first three I posted earlier today): 3) I intend to start blatantly telling anyone who asks me how old I am that its none of their business. Only your doctor should care how old you really are. It doesnt mean your art is - or your capabilities to work are - any better or worse if you are young or old, as long as you are capable of and willing to do the work. I dont give a shit if people are 12 or 75; if theyre making music or writing poetry/books or producing art, it doesnt matter. Society seems to want people to stop being creative - and certainly thinks that anyone starting a career in certain areas of the arts at a later age is weird or wrong or stupid. The Residents had the right idea - always appearing in disguise. Have they had the same line up all these years? I dont know, they never aged. They never had an age. At the end of the day, what matters is the work produced. Youre going to spend way more hours looking at the painting rather than the painter; youll spend far more hours reading the words than being face to face with the author; and I guarantee you that youll listen to the music you love over and over and over again without looking at a picture of the band/songwriter. And for the record, Im 23. Mwa ha ha ha ha. ; )
