THE SLUMBERING HEIGHTS… THEY STAND IN MIME IN COURSE OF TIME, On the edges of the world. Which once by itself swirled; Fearless of greed, caste or creed. But today they are standing at stead, If required to death’s feed, To defend us. They….Our soldiers!!! What is patriotism?? Love for pieces of lands?? Or Of those blood wrapped hands, That turn cold, lifeless to sands, Without any grants; For their pangs. Today here we stand laughing, Making hey in the sun, While there stands a son, Shielding us with his chest, So that we can see life open its chest. Has he taken by love of life, Stayed away from strife, Said no to being Weary way-wanderer; Being languid and sick at heart, Travelling painfully over the rugged road, His loved ones wouldn’t have to troad, Knowing the enemy will show no charity, And they have lost them for eternity. Getting a life of misery & scales of honour, Which if possible will be bestowed by the land’s owner. Gone are the days when knights where dreamt about, Today even the lashes shudder dreaming of the barbed wires throughout. We are still so far from the harsh reality, Given the credit of patriority. Patriotism today is the virtue of the vicious, Using to brush own ends. Today as the sun sets, There will be so much blood, Flowing for the peace in sleep one gets, From the soul that shuns fright, For the last war the life fights, On the slumbering heights.
