The geek/nerd in me wants to talk X-men with you... My favorite X-men character (for those of you who dont already know) is Gambit... so I was excited to see him briefly in Wolverine Origins. I also thought Taylor Kitsch was a decent pick for the role. So imagine my excitement when I found out there would be MORE Gambit in an upcoming X-men: Apocalypse movie AND a movie of his own. Me: YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!! Unfortunately I no longer feel this way and Im sure youre wondering why. Two words.... Channing Tatum. I received a message earlier today that informed me that Channing Tatum was cast as Gambit. Channing Tatum. What in his resume shows casting that he could play a professional thief who can control and manipulate pure kinetic energy to his every whim and desire? Who is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in card-throwing, hand-to-hand combat and the use of a bo? A man named Remy LeBeau who is fiercely proud of his Louisiana heritage and speaks with a very thick Cajun accent?? Oh, it must have been his academy award wining acting in Magic Mike. Dont get me wrong, I have nothing against Channing Tatum. I just think someone else would be better suited as Gambit. I hope they change their minds and re-cast. End rant. ** I also am not thrilled about Affleck as Batman, or when they cast Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool or even Green Lantern.
