The government has introduced a new cyber-bullying bill. Theres a lot of people who will instinctively oppose this law because its being introduced by the Harper government. They shouldnt. An individuals body, the naked self, is personal, private and should be protected from exploitation. Canadians deserve the right to have their image protected as much as their body and property. People will share with people they trust, and if that trust is violated there should be consequences. Take my car, you can be arrested. Take my health, property or money without my consent or the authority of the law you are liable and go to jail. Take my picture...? Corporations and celebrities are in court all the time to protect their image. People make fortunes licensing their images. An image is worth a lot for some lucky individuals. What about the not so lucky? Young people, busy people, average people make mistakes. No one should have an image of their own intimate self exploited for status, blackmail or profit without consent. IMHO
