The great Apostle said, “We preach Christ crucified.” Would to God that the preachers in our pulpits today could say that! Oh to hear anointed Scriptural declarations from the sacred pulpit again on the great truths that Jesus; John the Baptist; Peter and Paul taught: The great truths concerning the “Infallibility of the Holy Scriptures.” The “Atonement.” The Divinity of Christ, that Christ is God of very God, that “all things were created by Him and for Him.” The Virgin birth of Christ. The Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and His glorious coming again for His own. The great truths about sanctification and holiness. The great consolatory truths about a place of everlasting blessedness for the righteous and the great and equally terrible truths about the eternal abode of the damned, those who obeyed not God and refused to receive the Lord Jesus, the Great Lord and Savior. Peter said, “We have a more sure word.” Paul said, All scripture is given by inspiration of God.” Peter wrote - “For we are not redeemed with corruptible things, such as silver and gold; but by the precious blood of Jesus, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot.” How could we forget Luther’s declaration on that memorable day when he stood and shouted into existence the greatest spiritual revolution and revival in history, “The just shall live by faith.” Justification by Faith and faith alone, without the works of the law. Is the Church cherishing those wonderful words we refer to as “Reformation,” I fear not! Even as I write there is a wholesale selling out of what Luther stood for and what the reformers gave up their lives for. May God forgive us and have mercy upon us! The Church of Rome is not better now, than then. The corruption of Papal doctrine is no less diabolical today than then. Our compromises with false religions has tarnished our robes. Jude well said, “They are spots in your feasts of charity. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation. Ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness and denying the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.” - Dr. Steeves
