The hard work of local business men and women has meant almost one thousand new businesses have been set up in Basingstoke in the past 12 months. Businesses are starting to have the confidence to invest in taking on new people and as a result over the past 4 years unemployment has halved in Basingstoke. Figures released today show that unemployment in Basingstoke has fallen again for the ninth consecutive month, to 691 people in November 2014, lower than at any point for the past 14 years and lower than before the Great Recession.
