The in memoriam segment is always my favorite part of the Oscars. Pop culture is our common touchstone, and the people who make it happen are the extended family we share-- so taking a moment to honor their passing I think has value. Plus Im just a morbid and gloomy person. This is a short vid honoring the 2014 passing of people who contributed to making the movies riffed in my favorite TV show, Mystery Science Theater 3000. While the point of the show is to make jokes about the movies, its done with respect-- inviting filmmakers and all of us to have a sense of humor about ourselves.
