The inaugural Keeney Institute 2-Year Mentorship Program begins in one month! Here is a snapshot of some of what well be diving into... THE ORIGINAL MYSTERIES Bradford Keeney & Hillary Keeney Here we find the oldest teachings for how we can find the deepest meaning, fullest purpose, and highest joy in life. Each mystery originated in the Kalahari and migrated to other spiritual traditions throughout the world, representing one part of the whole of spirituality that was initially born in the African cradle of human existence. The First Mystery: Entering the River of the Non-Subtle Life force The first mystery of the Kalahari, the wellspring of original spirituality, is natural movement unfettered by the constraints and limited manipulations of mind. This is not the kind of physical exercise in which you make yourself move, but the natural, effortless movement of the Kalahari (later re-birthed in Japan as seiki jutsu). Our heart dives into this dynamic current whenever it is allowed to unashamedly feel the full joy of being alive. This kind of movement is pure and simple joy, and taps into a magical, mysterious force or energy—call it n|om, seiki, or the non-subtle life force—that is an entry to a world most of us have heard very little about. The Second Mystery: For God’s Sake, Shake! How do you know that you have n|om inside of you? The answer is simple: it makes you tremble, shake, and quake. Why would you want to shake? That answer is also simple: it is God’s way of baking you. You shake in order to get spiritually baked or cooked. If you have been cooked, you know why this is a perfect metaphor. When the spirit gets inside you, it feels hot. At first, you may think there is a fire in your belly. It moves inside, and causes you to move on the outside. The Third Mystery: Stay Tuned Like a musical instrument, we easily fall out of tune. We then feel out of whack, out of sync, and out of touch with spirit. The key to embracing vital living is to know how to tune your life, and stay tuned. The Fourth Mystery: Insulting the Meat In the Kalahari, life means movement, change, and transformation. Ecstatic shaking keeps everything hopping, rather than stopping. The goal is to get in touch with the absurdity of everything in your life so you are liberated from any attachment to limiting preferences. Bushmen value shaking things up so as to keep everything changing. When things aren’t shaken, a life or relationship is at risk for getting stuck. Your life cannot be awakened unless you develop a healthy relationship with your own unique kind of craziness. When you do something absurd, you loosen the grip of a habit. The Fifth Mystery: The Spiritual Tracks Perhaps the greatest secret of the universe is that music is our link to God. When we long for God’s love and sincerely make ourselves available to receive it, it is akin to dialing a phone to the world of spirit. Without song, there is no hookup, no connection to the ancestors and to the gods. The Sixth Mystery: The Ecstatic Pump - The Original Means of Healing A sacred song is the line that connects you to the divine and enables the medicine to come forth, whether by direct infusion or recommended prescription. Each person has a doctor inside and all that healers and medical doctors do is knock on the inner doctor’s door and request care of the patient. When a good feeling is intensified to such an extent that it feels real and solid, then it has become a medicine arrow. Bushman healing involves both shooting arrows of pure n|om into another person and cleaning dirty arrows, which are usually caused by anger, jealousy, or selfishness. The Seventh Mystery: Transmitting N|om to Others Give your emotions more importance than your thoughts. The softer and more open you are, the less judgmental of others and yourself you will become. When you are soft enough, an arrow of n|om can be shot inside you. If it finds itself at home, it will be there to move you whenever you knock on its door. If you desire to be full of spirit, soul, and God’s love, getting hit by n|om is what you are looking for. The Eighth Mystery: The Spiritual Classrooms - Where the Mystics & Shamans Go to School Bushman healers and ecstatic teachers experience visionary travel to what they call the classrooms to receive specific guidance and instruction. Authentic teachers shake you up and make you soft, making you ready for the non-subtle life force. They also point you toward the spiritual classrooms. In the classrooms, you will get whatever directions, instructions, gifts, and resources you need. The Ninth Mystery: Have a Drink along the Way Walking the line and following the track to God cannot be achieved by willpower. You can’t get there by trying hard. If you’re trying, it won’t work. This is effortless work. The way of n|om is the way of natural goodness, effortless kindness, and wise love. A fully cooked person lives in constant immersion in n|om. Strong ropes connect you with everything in the universe, and when it is important to know about the other end of a rope, it will tap or pull you. Once you get a taste for God, everything else is mere tap water. If the world knew that this is the drink that can quench our deepest thirst, we’d have a different way of relating with each other. The Tenth Mystery: God Wants You to Hug Love transforms and anger attracts. When you protest too much, you become more like that which you are against. When you prioritize loving others, you are loved by love. This is the Kalahari law of attraction. We exist to radically help one another, hold each other up, forgive, heal, share, inspire, and love. The Eleventh Mystery: The Library of Mystery Rather than finding a book on a shelf, you are brought directly to an experience that downloads timeless n|om wisdom into your whole being. This is where all spiritual mysteries reside. The Twelfth Mystery: Being Touched by God You receive your rope when your feelings for God have taken you over. This is what the Bushmen mean by being fully awakened by n|om. The track to God is the rope that holds and pulls your heartstrings. “Tell them that the greatest joy in life comes when you climb the rope to God,” N!yae (a Bushman elder) shouts out. “You haven’t fully lived until you get on that rope.” Fall into the Kalahari circle. It is an unbroken circle of eternal love waiting to lift you toward God. keeneyinstitute.org/mentorship.php
