The influence of intellectual debate for civil rights advancement entailed many groups and individuals in working together to achieve the ultimate cause, such as: peace, accessibility to resources, and freedom of expression. The Colonel represents the new outlook to changing a prior position towards a new idea of bringing forth the positive in humanity. During the time of difficulty in gaining civil rights for certain groups in fair representation and every facet of what society can offer, the commitment of others not directly impacted played a major role in Dr. Du Bois and Mr. Washingtons strategic plan. It is known that W.E.B. DuBois had many run-ins with opposing groups and constantly seemed to get out of difficult situations. Du Bois had many famous and inspiring colleagues supportive towards his progress to making a difference as well as Mr. Booker T. Washington. Although, the many supporters names were not all written in history books, however, the spirit of such supportive means lives on as their commitment to the cause even if on different strategic measures for achieving a common goal. The Colonel, as an accomplish Atlanta Attorney, is a direct symbolic representative of such an important and integrated element in the struggle for equality for all.
