The interesting thing about this disturbing graph is that its movement seems pretty independent of what party is in charge of the government. We see it bottoming out in 1978 (Carter administration) then beginning a slow climb regardless of who was in charge. We see a slight downturn during the second Bush administration, then an accelerated climb to the present. I continue to say that the really root problems in this country are NOT to do with political parties, but underlying structure such as lobbyists, election expenses, laws and treaties, etc.
