The intersection of Broadway Street and Hildebrand Avenue will be closed for four days from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Wednesday. It will be the last intersection closure of the project. Im very happy that its going to be over soon because Im ready for the business to start picking up, said uBreakiFix technician Walter Morales. Heavy machinery and dozens of construction crews serve as the backdrop of a project designed to improve drainage, driving conditions and safety on the roads. Area businesses like Cheesy Jane’s, Bill Miller Bar-B-Q and the Wash Tub, along with the University of the Incarnate Word, the Broadway Condos, AT&T and Clothesline Cleaners were presented with the idea of the four-day closure versus closing for two weekends. The businesses supported the four-day closure because it would be the final closure for the project. I can not even describe it. It makes me want to cry and in business you dont want to be emotional, you want to respond instead of react, but theres nothing to do about it except wait patiently, said Derba Mills, of Clothesline Cleaners. During the closure drivers will be diverted to N. New Braunfels Avenue before they reach the intersection. Drivers headed east on Hildebrand are required to turn right onto Broadway, where they can continue south or follow the detour toward N. New Braunfels to head north. Thats horrible. That means you have to make significant arrangements to get around that and just about your daily routine, said driver Brandon McNew. Crews will work 24 hours a day during the closure. A portion of Broadway between Burr Road and Groveland Place will also be closed. #KSATnews #KSATnews
