The last two days have been awesome!!! Wednesday night I just went along with my gut feeling and decided to go for an adventure. I stopped at the soccer fields close to our home and tried speaking to a gentleman (who knew no english). Using the talking translator on Jades phone I told him that I wanted to play soccer. He said, you big, you play American football. I laughed pretty hard!! Thankfully, a girl came over to our conversation and translated for me. After awhile the guy said that there are some Americans that play futbol on Saturday. I gave him my name and number so that he could have Edgar call me. Yesterday morning Edgar called me and informed me that they do not play on Saturdays right now because they cannot afford it. As he continued, he did say that they play every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 4pm with the children of Casa Bernabe. This is really cool because Casa Bernabe is one of the orphanages that we deliver food to every month for Orphan Resources International and they are really close to where we live. Being there to play soccer the last two days, we feel, has really opened up some new doors for us. Making friends with Edgar and soon we will be meeting his wife whose job is to set up and organize the mission work teams for Casa Bernabe. We are so excited! They have younger children as well. So the same night that I stopped at the soccer field I also stopped at the softball field. I walked around listening to hear who could speak English. There was a man in the first base dugout who said he could speak English. I explained that I played a lot of ball in the states and he says, you play right now heres a glove. I went out and played the final two innings. After the game they said to come back tomorrow night. I went again and played last night which was a blast and I got to meet a whole new group of people. It was awesome. Just to top it off, I had the game winning hit off the fence in the bottom of the 7th. They were loving the Gringo last night and they want me to play with them from now on. All of this that has happened over the last two days gets me so excited because we are putting ourselves into the culture and forcing ourselves to learn about the people here. Plus its the best way share Gods word and learn the language. Andy
