The launch of Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System - IRNSS-1A, built by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), will be webcast as well as telecast on Doordarshan on Monday (i.e Today 01July2013) Scheduled for launch at 11.41 pm from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sri Harikota, Andhra Pradesh. The satellite will be launched into orbit using the ‘XL’ version of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). The IRNSS 1A is the first of six satellites which will provide the country with its own navigation system on the lines of the US GPS service and the Russian GLONASS. On Saturday, the satellite and the PSLV was being prepped for launch and the propellant filling operations were completed. The launch coverage will begin on Doordarshan and the ISRO website isro.org from 11.10 pm.
