The lead story in this weeks Official Irish Farmers Journal: Fears over SFP deadline Fears are growing among advisers and consultants that they will not be able to cope with the surge in 2014 Single Farm Payment (SFP) applications that remain to be submitted. With less than two weeks to go to the vital 2014 Single farm payment deadline of 15 May, nearly 60% of the 133,000 applications have yet to be submitted. While this is similar to previous years, advisers report that each application is taking longer to process due to the complexity of the new CAP reforms. Teagasc Director of Knowledge Transfer Tom Kelly confirmed that the vast majority of appointments are taking longer to complete as farmers examine the implications of their decisions not just for this year but under the new CAP reform in 2015. Kelly said their offices around the country are already opening late to facilitate appointments. Tom urged farmers to make appointments early to ensure they get their application submitted before the deadline.
